The DERMA-X Development Journal

Behind the Formulation

At Peptidea, the DERMA-X project explores the combination of cosmetic formulation ingredients and selected peptides within a topical skincare system.

Our Peptide Toner is being developed as a lightweight, spray-format addition to the DERMA-X collection. The project has involved ingredient selection, small-batch prototypes, compatibility observations, and refinement of the formulation approach.

This development journal provides an overview of our research objectives and formulation progress. It is not a report of completed clinical testing or proof of product performance.

Product Format Proposed 2 oz glass spray bottle
Formulation Approach Water-based cosmetic toner with selected peptide ingredients under investigation
Development Status Active formulation refinement; release date not announced

01 / Ingredient Research

Exploring the Ingredients

The following ingredients have been explored during formulation development. Their inclusion does not confirm the final commercial ingredient list.

Peptide Research

GHK-Cu

A copper-binding tripeptide investigated in scientific literature involving copper coordination and biological signaling. Our formulation work includes exploring its compatibility within a water-based cosmetic system.

Peptide Research

SNAP-8

A synthetic cosmetic peptide investigated in topical formulation research. The development process examines its incorporation and compatibility with other selected ingredients.

Hydration Research

Hyaluronic Acid

A water-binding ingredient commonly used in cosmetic formulations. Its role in this development project includes investigating viscosity, dispersion, and formulation texture.

Cosmetic Ingredient

Niacinamide

A widely used cosmetic ingredient being considered within the broader DERMA-X formulation approach. Compatibility and final inclusion remain subject to development decisions.

Cosmetic Ingredient

D-Panthenol

A humectant and cosmetic conditioning ingredient explored for incorporation into the toner system. Final concentration and inclusion have not yet been established for release.

Supporting Ingredients

Additional Formulation Research

Our development work has also explored snail mucin, caffeine, allantoin, and preservation systems. These materials are being evaluated for their roles in the overall formulation.

The Development Approach

From ingredient preparation through prototype observations, our work focuses on building a consistent formulation.

01

Ingredient Selection

Identifying cosmetic ingredients and peptides of interest, while considering their proposed roles and formulation compatibility.

02

Prototype Formulation

Preparing small exploratory batches to observe mixing, ingredient dispersion, consistency, and appearance.

03

Compatibility Observations

Monitoring visible changes such as cloudiness, separation, and other formulation characteristics.

04

Continued Refinement

Reviewing observations to guide further development, with formal safety and stability evaluation still required before launch.

03 / Development Observations

What We've Observed So Far

Selected preliminary observations from earlier toner prototypes. These are formulation notes, not validated test results.

Ingredient Dispersion

Early formulation work identified challenges associated with dissolving and distributing certain ingredients, including allantoin, within the water-based system.

Snail Mucin Incorporation

An early prototype displayed visible strands following snail mucin incorporation. This prompted additional consideration of ingredient preparation and mixing conditions.

Peptide Stock Appearance

During preparation of exploratory peptide stocks, differences in appearance and clarity were observed. These observations do not establish ingredient purity, stability, or microbial safety.

Preservative Compatibility

Cloudiness and limited settling were observed after preservative incorporation in an earlier prototype. The cause was not conclusively established, and compatibility requires further investigation.

Formulation Review

Observations from exploratory batches are informing the next stage of formulation refinement. Visual appearance alone cannot establish preservative effectiveness, stability, or suitability for consumer use.

Where Development Stands

DERMA-X Peptide Toner — In Development

The project remains in formulation development. Ingredient selection, compatibility, and the final product specifications are still subject to refinement.

No final commercial formula, validated shelf life, or product launch date is being announced on this page.

Areas for further evaluation include:

  • Formulation consistency and physical stability
  • Compatibility of selected cosmetic ingredients
  • Preservative effectiveness and microbiological safety
  • Packaging compatibility and spray performance
  • Safety, labeling, and appropriate regulatory review
